This kit will replace the adjustable wheel bearing
found on Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles
with an 8-3/4" ring gear. Installation of this
kit will eliminate adjustment from the end plate
and oil leakage. The axle will be converted to a
free-floating axle and the noise associated with
the tapered roller bearing will be reduced. Use
of a hydraulic press is required for proper
installation.
INSTALLATION
1. Drain the axle housing of all the gear lube
and remove the axles.
2. Using the hydraulic press, remove the old
bearing and retainer.
3. Clean the axle thoroughly with solvent and
remove any burrs from the axle at this time.
4. Inspect the splines of the axle for
straightness. Replace the axle if the splines
are damaged or twisted.
5. Assemble the bearing onto the axle so that
the mounting flange of the bearing is facing
the axle flange.
6. Slide the locking ring onto the axle and press
it into place using a hydraulic press.
Make sure that the bearing is fully seated
against the axle flange shoulder.
7. Re-install the axle using the supplied gasket
between the housing end and the bearing flange.
8. Re-fill the housing with the proper gear lube
